F & T Theory ::
Conventionally, the
quality of audio devices are mostly specified by their gain curves in the
frequency domain. But this is not enough to reproduce the sharp pulsive
sound at the accurate timing. It is the well known fact that the phase
curve should also be controlled flat over the full bandwidth, in order
to reproduce the “wave form” of the original signal in the time
domain. In fact, the reproduced sound of the devices without the
accurate phase control has wave form astonishingly different from the
original sound signal, losing all the sharpness and accuracy of timing.
There are reasons why this simple fact has not been considered
seriously, such as, the technology has not been available to control
both of gain and phase curves, and at the same time the very high skill
of human to imagine the original music even from the distorted sound.
However, it is obvious that there are still problems to be solved to
improve further the quality of audio devices. Haniwa is aiming at this
target, to reproduce the sharpness of the original signal, and
eventually to reproduce the natural presence of the music.
